The concept--a national brand for high performing schools that serve low-income minority students--combines high standards for performance with advocacy to mobilize school authorizers and consumers (parents, students, employers). This paper lays out the conceptual rationale for a College Bound Schools brand, linked to a school design consulting service and learning network of high-poverty schools seeking ways to improve their students' achievement.
