Urban Schools That Work

There are ways to design public schools so they engage low-income, minority students in learning; prevent unconscionably high drop out rates; and lead to high rates of college enrollment.
INC's principals helped to found a high-performing high-poverty public school in Detroit and, in the process, studied the successes of similar schools in Boston, Houston, San Diego and other cities.  These schools have a set of characteristics in common--student engagement and high achievement expectations--that transform what the school does every day and are leading to dramatically improved student performance.  INC is dedicated to accelerating the spread of these designs for schools and to continuing to improve them.
