Community Energy Planning

A new discipline of Community Energy Planning is emerging that seeks to apply the disciplines of master planning to a community's energy production, distribution and consumption systems. In the Community Energy Planning process, the skills of regional planning are applied to energy systems in order to improve the environment, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and control energy costs.  The proposed Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant in the Department of Energy is expected to accelerate this practice dramatically over the coming years.
